Service Description / Overview

Wimmera Hospice Care provides nursing care by local District Nurses in cooperation with the doctor and hospital, if appropriate. Health care is also provided by other multi-disciplinary team members as needed. Trained volunteers are available in most areas throughout the region. Pastoral Care support is usually provided by the family minister or other appropriate person. An extensive range of equipment is available for loan and a Palliative Care Medical Consultant is available on request from the patient's doctor.

Wimmera Hospice Care also provides a Palliative Care Nursing Consultative Service to the region.

Fees

No fees apply, although donations are welcome and tax deductible.

Eligibility

The service is available to any terminally ill person and their families. Referral may be made by self, medical, nursing or hospital staff.

Waiting List

Visits made as soon as possible, following referral.
