The Little Desert Rodders, Rockers and Collectors Club have donated $10,000 to Wimmera Cancer Centre.

Club president Peter Hutchison said the club was proud to help get the fundraising appeal to its goal of $1 million.

“We have long admired the work of WACK Car Show Committee which holds a car show every Labour Day Weekend and is a big supporter of Ronald McDonald House, helping children suffering cancer,” Mr Bellman said.

“We wanted to do something as well and are very proud to support the Wimmera Cancer Centre project.

“Everybody is affected by cancer at some stage of their lives, whether it be a family member or relative- this donation will ultimately benefit the Wimmera community greatly.”

Mr Hutchison said the club has grown substantially and increased the amount it raises from its major fundraising event, the Dimboola Swap Meet.

“Our club formed in 2005 with just seven founding members and has grown 330 members. We cater for people interested in older cars, rock ‘n’ roll dancing and collecting,” he said.

“We are very happy with our annual fundraiser and grateful to sponsors who support our swap meet with incorporates a show and shine event as well.”

Wimmera Health Care Group chief executive Chris Scott and Wimmera Cancer Centre Project Steering Committee Chair Richard Goudie accepted the donation from the group and were extremely grateful for the generous donation.

“We are very appreciative of community groups like the Little Desert Rodders, Rockers and Collectors Club and the work they are doing to make the Wimmera Cancer Centre a reality,” Mr Scott said.

“This club has done a fantastic job to raise $10,000 and we couldn’t be more grateful for their efforts.”
