Volunteer this year at Wimmera Health Care Group
Did you make a New Year’s resolution to volunteer this year, or give back to your community? If you answered yes, then Wimmera Health Care Group might have an opportunity for you.
Wimmera Health Care Group works with Volunteering Western Victoria to ensure volunteers are supported and take on roles that suit them. The volunteer co-ordinator at Wimmera Health Care Group Michelle Pitman said taking on a volunteer role is rewarding for the volunteer, the health care group and broader community.
Ms Pitman said there are a large range of roles for volunteers once they have completed the screening process, which involves a background check, and have been inducted.
“There are consumer advisory groups that need community representatives to provide feedback and advice, rehabilitation roles, aged care support, patient experience tracking, volunteer drivers and administration support, just to name a few,” Ms Pitman said.
“Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and Wimmera Health Care Group partners with Volunteering Western Victoria to ensure volunteers are properly inducted, matched to a suitable role and given the support they need while volunteering.”
Chief executive Chris Scott said volunteers are valuable members of the Wimmera Health Care Group team.
“Volunteers play an important role in enhancing the services that we are able to offer to our patients, clients and residents,” Mr Scott said.
“Volunteers provide a range of support services across this organisation and the important contribution they make is valued and appreciated. It is because of their support, as they work in partnership with our staff, that we are able to provide the best possible services to our community.”
